Ceramics begin soft and malleable. The clay is shaped by hand, after which the material must dry slowly before it can go into the kiln. During the firing process, the clay changes forever: the high temperature makes the material hard, strong, and durable.
Depending on the design, the finishing with glaze follows. It is here that the nuances in color, gloss, and texture arise, which give each piece its own unique appearance.
